Beth Brooke-Marciniak was scared. The global vice chair of public policy for EY was 52 years old and about to go on stage and announce, in front of a few thousand people at an industry LGBT event, that she was gay. It would make her the most senior out female executive in the world. She knew it was significant but also something she had to do.
